Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Latino Community Foundation?
The Latino Community Foundation (LCF) is a non profit 501c(3) tax exempt corporation which supports charitable activities that foster healthy and empowered Latino communities. The foundation is governed by a body broadly representative of the cultural diversity within the Latino community.

What area do you serve?
LCF concentrates its efforts on assisting Latino nonprofits and communities in those areas with the largest concentration of Latinos in the Bay Area and in those issues that most impact the well being of Latinos. Our target area includes, but not be limited to, the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Santa Clara.

How does LCF propose to accomplish its mission?
LCF will work towards its mission by initiating programs, making grants, and serving as a convener and advocate for issues that impact the Latino community.

The foundation raises its resources from a broad cross-section of the public, and has a broad, flexible mission in supporting community needs. In addition to grant-making and fundraising, LCF's role in the community extends into the areas of public policy development, community convening, problem solving and ultimately, serving as a catalyst for positive change.

How do I apply for a grant?
We have closed our grant cycle for the Latino Children and Youth Initiative for 2008 and are reviewing proposals. Please check back in November of 2008 for more information about our 2009 grant process. If you wish to be included on our list for future grants, please email your contact info to lcf@sff.org. If you have any questions, please call Gina DeMartini at (415) 733-8591.
