LCF Children and Youth Initiative
Strategic Grantmaking
In 2008, we launched the LCF Children and Youth Initiative, the largest grant-making initiative in our organization's history. Through the Initiative, we are dedicated to raising and granting up to $1,000,000 over four-years to Latino-based organizations in the Bay Area providing direct services in the areas of prenatal care, early child enrichment, teen pregnancy prevention, and parental engagement. The Children and Youth Initiative will initially target families with children from 0 to age 5, promote early and progressive childhood development interventions, with the on the entire family to engage parents in their children's learning.
To achieve the goals of the Initiative LCF will fund grantees in four key service areas:
- Improve the physical and social health of children from birth to age 5, beginning with pre-natal care
- Support early childhood enrichment programs that increase early learning experiences for children from 0 to age 5
- Address the needs of adolescent parents, including pregnancy prevention and parenting support
- Parental engagement to strengthen the family's ability to raise healthy children from birth to age 5
In addition to grants, LCF is also developing a Learning Community among our grantees. Click here to read more about this exciting endeavor.
